Among the first vineyards of PETILIA we must mention those that insist on the promontory of Chianchetelle. Pleasant location, very isolated, a den of criminals first and then brigands who exploited its raised position with respect to the valley road, the only direction Benevento Avellino, where the restriction was maximum (narrow of the barbarians) in order not to give escape to the unfortunate pilgrims.

In the center there is still the ruin of an ancient farmhouse in sandstone and breccia Irpina called the “sentinel” from where the gaze could arrive, through the countryside of Benevento, up to Matese on one side and to the Partenio towards the south beyond Avellino. Here fate has indulged itself in depositing meters and meters of sediments from the most varied origins on the ancient craton.
